Shannon is a Registered Nurse with a BScN from McMaster University and a Masters in Nursing Administration from the University of Toronto.
In her nursing role she was a passionate Neonatal intensive care nurse. She has taken on leadership roles for the last 22 years of her career and in an executive role for 12 of those years. As the Chief Nursing Executive, She contributes to the overall strategic direction of the hospital and has operational oversight of nursing and clinical practice for the delivery of excellent patient and family-centred care.
She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from her increasingly complex roles within acute care and at Ministry level roles. Quality care and exceptional experiences for both patients and employees is her priority. Risk mitigation has been part of her work for many years. She was instrumental in leading employee engagement with the strategic initiative to bring a culture of kindness to the workplace. Setting a culture that brings employee engagement drives inspired employees who thrive to provide quality care. Shannon brings volunteer governance experience with her membership on various Boards and currently sits on the Board of Lambton College.
