Since transitioning to Ontario Health East Region, Michael has taken on the lead responsibility for Digital Health and Decision Support activities. Just prior to that, Michael served for more than a decade in various senior roles at South East LHIN, including knowledge management, technology, system level performance and quality improvement. More recently, his focus is towards providing regional oversight and direction on digital and virtual health care priorities including remote care monitoring programs, patient portals, central waitlist management systems and innovative solutions for health care. SHIIP (or Shared Health Integrated Information Portal) is one of the innovative solutions for which Michael is the principal lead and which aims to support access to real time patient encounter data across a variety of health care sectors, a care coordination system and patient and population level metrics to support care management as well as population health management. As a Chartered Statistician, one of Michael’s key interest is to support development and promotion of technology that is relevant, sufficient, measurable and actionable. It is his hope that SHIIP can complement other regional and provincial digital health assets to fulfil this goal.
